Urease Activity, Ammonia Volatilisation and Related Microbiological Aspects in Some South African Soils

چکیده

Urease activity of various soils was indexed employing toluene sterile and non-sterile soils. The two methods indicated that part played by microorganisms. Apparatus used, soil depth, increment, depth of placement and pattern distributions are discussed in relation to volatile loss as are influences of soil moisture, reaction, temperature and drying-out. Urea on trash benefits fungi but invariably results in high losses. KCl and MgSO 4 retard otherwise rapid pH changes and appear to check losses.

Evaluation of Zeolite as a Binding Agent to Mitigate Ammonia Loss from Pig Slurry and Manure

Nitrogen (N) in livestock food sources that does not end up in a product (e.g. milk or eggs) or that does not get incorporated in body tissue is excreted by the animal. Nitrogen in the urine is in the form of urea which can rapidly hydrolyse to form ammonium carbonate. The decomposition of ammonium carbonate frees up ammonium ions that can volatilise as gaseous ammonia (NH3). Hydrolysis of urea...

بازدارندگی فلزات سنگین و حلال‌ها بر آنزیم اوره‌آز برای تولید آمونیاک در سنتز داروی ضدفشار خون نیفیدیپین

Introduction: Simultaneous development of technology is composed with environmental hazardous with heavy-metals and organic solvents and thus toxic catalysts/organic solvents must be replaced with biocatalysts and water. Urease is a hydrolase enzyme and urease-urea can be considered a safe source of toxic ammonia in synthesis of nifedipine. Nifedipine is an antihypertensive drug synthesized by ...

Ammonia volatilisation in waste stabilisation ponds: a cascade of misinterpretations?

Ammonia volatilisation has generally been reported as, or assumed to be, the main nitrogen removal mechanism in waste stabilisation ponds (WSP). Nitrogen removal via ammonia volatilisation is based on two observations: (a) in-pond pH values can reach high values (>9, even >10), so increasing the proportion of the total ammonia present as the un-ionized form or free ammonia (NH(3)); and (b) in-p...

The Effect of Tillage System on Soil Microbiota in Relation to Soil Structure

Adoption of sustainable tillage can protect soils from biological degradation and maintain soil quality, as compared with conventional management. This paper presents findings from a long-term tillage experiment carried out in Endocalcari-Endohypogleyic Cambisols on a sandy loam soil in Lithuania. The tillage systems were: conventional (CT), moderate (MT), and no tillage (NT). Tillage intensity...

Screening of 20 Commonly Used Iranian Traditional Medicinal Plants Against Urease

Infection with Helicobacter pyloriis the most common cause of stomach and duodenal ulcers. About more than 80 % of people are infected with H. pylori in developing countries. H. pyloriuses urease enzyme product “ammonia” in order to neutralize and protect itself from the stomach acidic condition and urease enzyme activity has been shown to be essential to the colonization of H. pylori. Inhibito...
